A generous family pool created for swimming and outdoor living
This Billericay garden was transformed with an 8m x 3.75m x 1.5m Sycillia swimming pool in Grey. The substantial dimensions provide plenty of room for swimming, exercise and family enjoyment, while the understated finish gives the water a clean and contemporary appearance.
Planning the pool within the garden
The project began by establishing the best position for the pool within the available outdoor space. The layout was planned to accommodate the full 8m shell while retaining practical access, comfortable poolside space and a strong visual connection with the property.
Excavating the installation area
The garden was excavated to the required length, width and depth, with additional working room left around the shell. This provided space for accurate placement, plumbing connections and structural backfilling during the later stages of the installation.
Constructing the concrete foundation
A reinforced concrete slab was created at the bottom of the excavation. The base was carefully levelled to provide consistent support beneath the entire pool shell and ensure the Sycillia sat correctly once lowered into position.
Delivering the one-piece pool shell
The full Sycillia shell arrived at the property as a single structure. Its delivery and lifting were carefully coordinated so the pool could be moved safely from the vehicle and guided towards the prepared installation area.
Lowering and levelling the pool
Specialist lifting equipment was used to lower the shell gently onto the concrete base. Its position and level were checked before the installation progressed, ensuring the structure was correctly aligned within the garden.
Connecting the circulation equipment
The plumbing, filtration and circulation systems were connected after the shell had been secured. The equipment was configured to maintain effective water movement throughout the generous pool volume and support reliable, straightforward operation.
Filling and supporting the structure
The pool was filled gradually while the surrounding space was backfilled in controlled stages. Progressing both processes together helped balance pressure around the shell and provide consistent structural support to the pool walls.
Completing the poolside setting
With the pool secure, the surrounding area was developed into a practical outdoor setting. The completed layout provides clear routes around the water alongside space for seating, relaxing and spending time together beside the pool.
An impressive centrepiece for the Billericay garden
The finished Sycillia installation offers the space and proportions of a true swimming pool while remaining carefully integrated into the garden. Its 8m length is well suited to swimming and exercise, while the 3.75m width provides ample room for family use. The Grey finish adds a refined water colour and completes the clean, modern appearance of the outdoor space.
